
About Sarah Murvin Smith
Sarah Murvin Smith is a pastel artist from Hampstead, North Carolina, known for her emotive animal portraits in soft pastel on wood panel. Inspired by her personal horse, Shelby, and a lifelong love of animals, her work focuses on capturing emotion through the eyes.
A self-taught pastel artist, Sarah holds degrees in Equine Business and Studio Art from St. Andrews University, as well as an MBA. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Painting at SCAD. Her painting Firefox received an award at the Wilmington Art Association Spring Show in 2025. Smith currently exhibits her work at ArtExposure in Hampstead, where she maintains a gallery space and continues to explore the soulful connections between animals and people. She is expanding her network, building her portfolio, and preparing for her graduate thesis exhibition
